Also this reminds me oddly of a series I read, I call them the Firekeeper series but I think they have another name, anyway RL;dr version a girl and her wolf friend who leave from their pack for adventurs find another pack that has in breeding problems and because of that allows "mated pairs" to be mates not not necessarily have pups...so the girl and her wolf are "mates" and the alphas but the other two wolves,in the girls pack mate and actually have the puppies for the pack. And ya sounds weird when you read that but the series is REALLY GOOD. And like it makes more sense when you actually read it and ot my weird summery of it lol. Anyhow great story!
